It's Day 1 of the kitchen reno project, and Joe and the plumber are here. Scary facts about our kitchen that have been unearthed today:
1. The electricity to our wall oven was supplied via an extension cord under the cabinet.
2. We had a gas leak somewhere near our oven.
3. Our laundry sink (soon to be our bar sink) had no shut-off valves.
4. The shut off valves for our main sink don't work. At all.

WOW!! Those are good reasons for renovating every now and then. We are having new gutters installed for our home. The first estimate was $3,590. We have someone coming later on. From all my research, that is not a bad price.
That sounds like a lot for gutters. Although, I've never had gutters replaced so maybe it is the going rate.
We have a terrible erosion problem on the front lawn. He is also running an underground pipe from the corner downspout out to the road. When I researched prices, the cheapest was 3$ a linear foot for the gutters themselves. Then you have to add in labor. Nothing is cheap.
If they're doing drains and stuff, that might not be bad--though my first reaction was the same as Anita's.
Wow--that really opened things up! And wow--good thing you're renovating. An extension cord???? Nice.
You're both right. The second bid was $2,000. Home Depot gives an estimate today.
